My latest book sales figures

The latest sales figures for my books arrived yesterday morning. It is interesting to note that the sales of THE PORTABLE WARGAME and DEVELOPING THE PORTABLE WARGAME continue to flourish, ...

... although Amazon still don't appear to have sold a single copy of LA ULTIMA CRUZADA!

I have checked with Lulu.com why this apparent lack of sales doesn't match with the fact that there are two reviews on Amazon that have been written by verified purchasers and I have had emails from people who have purchased the book from Amazon. Lulu.com informed me that due to the different sales reporting 'cycles', Amazon sales figures can be up to eight weeks in arrears, so that any book sales from late December onward might not yet be included in the sales figures for the period up to and including February.

This all sounds a bit odd to me, and I will certainly be checking the sales figures in some detail next month.

  1. BOB,
These stats seem very encouraging- seems that the PB is more preferred to HB...this is interesting and surprising. Hope your making a good deal out of it for your Hobby. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson,

I suspect that price is a major factor when it comes to sales. I know that several people have bought the eBook edition, read it, and then bought the hardback or paperback editions.

The income from my sales is minimal compared to the time and effort that has gone into writing the books ... but every little helps!

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Bob,
Was there any discernible rise in PW sales after the Miniature Wargames article?
Whilst hardbacks are more durable - and look better on bookshelves - than paperbacks, the price differential often pushes one towards the latter to keep hobby costs down (which is, perhaps, part of the PW appeal: cheap n'cheerful wargaming).
Good to see PW selling so well!

    1. Arthur Harman,

The sales from retailers other than Lulu.com just come through as a total for the previous month. It is therefore impossible to see if the PW articles in MW have had any impact on sales,

One reason why I have produced three different editions (eBook, paperback, and hardback) of the PW books was to ensure that the rules were available in all range of prices to suit most pockets.

      All the best,

      Bob
